Homeopathy Celebrities on the couch: Santa, Father Christmas, Saint Nick, Santa Claus, St Nicholas, Noel...Yes that's Him!

Santa!
Santa by mycuteladybug
Flickr.com

This week the Undercover Homeopath analyses Santa's psychological profile according to homeopathy principles, and prescribes a homeopathic remedy.

Santa with his uncertain gait, carrying a heavy bag of presents, moving with a jingle in his step…full of cheer for all: children and adults!Laughing a hearty Ho Ho Ho, or Ha Ha Ha (apparently Santa has been banned from using the former by the PC police)…nevertheless bringing magic into everyone's home for one night, every year.

But Santa can have a few health issues too!
The North Pole where he lives is mighty cold and wet – covered in snow most of the time.

On Christmas Eve, he sets out on his flying sleigh pulled by reindeer all across the world, delivering gifts to all single handed: all in one night!

He travels through a portal between different realities: the world of magic and make believe ruled by elementals and fairies, and the third dimensional reality where we all wait for him to spread some Christmas magic.

Climbing down chimneys, trying to be nimble and quick so that no child surprises him while he carefully lays down their presents under the tree…overfed by all those biscuits, milk and erhm…

Stiff drinks left out for him as a reward… and as if it wasn't enough, he's also supposed to keep the ladies happy...

A lot of them put on their best lingerie or their sexiest nighty just in case Santa happens to take a wrong turn between the Christmas tree and the chimney and ends up in their bedroom…luckily he’s a happily married chap and Mrs Claus seems to be oblivious to all of this…still it can take its toil, especially on a chap…well…quite mature…

Fortunately we can assist Santa with homeopathy, and help him to be at his best this year!
Santa’s remedy is Agaricus Muscarius. It is also known as Fly Agaric the pretty mushroom with the red cap and the little white dots… very poisonous!

The two main toxins ibotenic acid and muscimol have been used as entheogens in Northern Europe from ancient times, linking this mushroom to Shamanic practices, facilitating the contact between different realities, and access to magical beings such as the elementals. There are many depictions of Elves and fairies sitting under these mushrooms in fairy tales and Walt Disney movies.

When intoxicated with agaric, reindeer jump around as if trying to fly, and in some Northern European cultures there has been a tradition of killing these animals and eating them in order to access some of the hallucinogenic properties of the mushroom without the poisonous effect.

As a homeopathic remedy, it is useful for treating spatial and time awareness disturbances:

This remedy is full of strange, rare and peculiar symptoms: these are symptoms to which we homeopaths give particular importance, as they can be almost unique to a patient and help to differentiate between remedies with similar characteristics. One of the symptoms is involuntary laughter when there is pressure on dorsal vertebras causing pain.

The patient perceives time as either much lengthier than it really is or much shorter. Objects seem larger than they really are. There can be severe back ache with nervous twitching on the spine as well as sciatica. All the symptoms are worsened by consuming alcohol, which the patient often craves, also from exposure to cold and wet weather. There is a characteristic pain that feels like icy needles. This remedy is also helpful in erectile dysfunction in older patients. It’s the main remedy for frostbite.

Overall, the patient who needs this remedy displays a bizarre behaviour normally with a cheerful mood as if they were slightly intoxicated - even when they haven't been drinking...

Homeopathy, A Christmas of magic and science...

Christmas by Jack Flash 35mm, Flickr.com
Between science and magic: that's where homeopathy is...

It's Christmas time again! Some love it, and some hate it...

Whatever your views, or even whether you celebrate it or not - this winter festival has deep roots in our subconscious, and in our collective history.

It wasn't always linked to Christianity and the birth of Jesus, in fact winter celebrations marking the Solstice have been around well before Christ.

In Europe, this was marked with a great feast to celebrate the birth of the Sun:

The end of the long nights and the beginning of longer days as the re-birth of Sun. They slaughtered the animals that couldn’t be kept throughout the winter and feasted on them from late December throughout January.

Around the same time, German pagans honoured their much fierce god Oden, a dualistic god known for his unpredictable temper and a penchant for flying over their camps cursing some and blessing others…

In Scandinavia the Norse celebrated Yuletide, with each family feasting until the log they burnt was consumed into ashes.

The Romans had no less than three festivals that fell around Solstice. The best known: Saturnalia was celebrated in honour of Saturn, their patron of agriculture. From December the 17th to 24th, social hierarchy was reversed: slaves dressed in their masters’ clothes and were allowed to rule, children were also encouraged to rule their parents. All excesses were permitted and unpunished during the festival - overeating, gambling, drinking, and sexual promiscuity were generalised among the population at this time.

By the 4th Century, with so many different pagan festivals to contend with, the Church decided that it was impossible to eradicate them and better to join them, or at least to give their followers an alternative celebration so that they wouldn’t be tempted into joining pagan celebrations, and so Christmas was born with the birth of Jesus attributed to the same date as the Winter Solstice.

No matter what there are still reasons to celebrate, and so I would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas...even to those of you who refuse to be enveloped into the Christmas spirit, there is something in the air...

If for nothing else because of the Higgs Boson, tentatively making its way into the limelight  just when we most need it!

This tiny particle has so far been a figment of imagination. Even if real it has a mass of 124-125 gigaelectronvolts : absolutely insignificant as far as mass goes! And yet it underpins the entire Standard Model - the "instruction booklet" that describes how particles and forces interact: it explains gravity, and it is considered crucial for allowing science to “make sense” of the Universe!

So there is hope that magic will be allowed to exist once again even in those skeptic and cynic minds, and that once it has been confirmed scientifically they will be able to "see it"... the God particle, as it has been nicknamed by many, might actually be real, not just something "cooked up" by Peter Higgs in order to explain the unexplainable!  The Higgs particle has just been "glimpsed" on two separate scientific experiments at CERN.

As someone pointed out on Twitter, and yes - I know it was supposed to be a mirth comment but it did strike a cord... "we spend billions of dollars trying to find Higgs, how come we cannot prove that homeopathy works?"

I say it is not in the current interest of science to explain it - it would upset well established scientific principles that not many are willing to re-evaluate at this stage... also it gives that disafected lunatic fringe of the scientific community something to do...yes, I mean the Skeptics off course!

Their sect as all the makings of religious fanaticism: it is dogmatic, based in false principles, the majority of its members is spiritually blind but is being manipulated by a few of the best scientifc brains in order to serve their interests... and it works!

They are trully fanatic about demoting anything that science cannot explain yet...anything that doesn't fit into the current scientific model: it is a hobby, and that's fine...they meet in pubs, stand up comedy shows, etc...its all good fun I'm sure!  Even thought that it is a destructive way of being when someone has to resort to attacking others in order to find their place in society and to define themselves...

Trying to avoid the same pitfall, I try not make any personal attacks on any particular individuals... even those who cover themselves in ridicule by conducting "homeopathic overdoses" when they know fully well that homeopathic principles contervein the possibility of overdose...

Even when someone claimed recently on Twitter to be a "health expert" because he's an "ex US surgical"... well, it shows that he might have observed a fair amount of human tragedy - and he certainly has my respect for that! It also shows that he's worked in a highly pressurised environment, where complementary medicine could not be an alternative and where only surgery would do... it also shows me that he had access to powerful narcotics which most people can only find in the black market...but it doesn't qualify him as a "health expert" - it just proves that in his confused mind illness equals health...one day even him will be able to "see" the link between complementary medicine and health.

So let this Christmas be the dawn of a new Era for both science and magic, and remember that magic is all that science cannot yet explain...

Merry Christmas to all - and I really mean all, no exceptions!

Homeopathy Celebrities on the couch: Adele, we could have had it all...

ADELE_oooos
Adele By ShulmanSays
Flickr.com

This week the Undercover Homeopath analyses Adele's psychological profile according to homeopathy principles, and prescribes a homeopathic remedy.

Adele, the soul singer and song writer: her success can only be compared to that of the Beatles; she is the first living artist since them to have two top five hits in both the UK Official Singles Chart and the Official Albums Chart simultaneously.

Most of her songs have been dedicated to her ex-boyfriend, or to the relationship they once had.

She has said on an interview” It's hard singing all these songs because it makes me remember how brilliant we were when we were good... and how tragic it was when we were bad.”

We have heard of her heartache of the past relationship in many of her songs, perhaps the most poignant is “Someone like you”.

She sings with tears in her voice

we can sense how heartfelt it was for her to lose that love, and how she still feels that loss: even her body language with a pained expression on her face and the hand pressing on her chest tell a tale of regret and sadness.

Earlier this year, we’ve heard of her successive voice problems, culminating with the cancellation of a series of concerts and having surgery treat a hemorrhaged vocal cord.

We know of her smoking habit and her taste for beer and red wine. We’ve learnt that the singer likes sweets, such as chocolate bars, honey and muesli energy bars. She also likes fruit, bananas, apples and grapes but avoids acidic foods, such as citrus fruits, tomatoes, and vinegar.

We also know that she supports “Sands” a stillbirth and neonatal death charity, and she insists that her fans make a compulsory donation to the charity in order to gain access to her.

Adele’s homeopathic remedy at this moment in time is Antimonium Crudum

At a physical level this remedy addresses complaints of the digestive system as well as skin. Bloating of this remedy is aggravated by acidic foods and drinks such as vinegar, tomatoes and sour wine, although paradoxically some patients do crave these. They have strong beer cravings.

They can have eating disorders, with periods of overeating that can in extremes lead to bulimia, and periods where they have no appetite which in extreme situations can lead to anorexia. The main differentiation between this and other remedies for eating disorders is that these are triggered by unrequited love: either because their relationship broke down, or because there was never a relationship.

Antimonium Crudum treats obesity in young people, laryngitis with loss of voice and skin complaints with indurations.

We can see some of the physical indications of this remedy in Adele, but the real indication for the remedy, is found in the psychological sphere.

Antimonium Crudum is the remedy for people who cannot move on after falling in love with someone. Even when the relationship is decidedly over and there are no prospects of rekindle, they are unable to move on to the next relationship.

They are deeply marked by that love experience, real or imaginary – often the way they perceive the relationship has little bearing to what it really was, in some cases there was not even a relationship – they might have fallen in love with someone who didn’t love them. They cannot find anyone else who compares favorably to that special person… they go on through life bleeding emotionally, deeply wounded but reveling in their emotional suffering in a masochistic way – believing the only cure is for their love to be reciprocated.

They are in love with the being in love experience...
Their body language expresses their immense sadness to their love loss, they sigh often, they hold their chest as if the emotional pain transcended into the physical…they are incurable romantics, but in their heart they’ve already made their choice…even those who seem to move on and settle on a relationship with someone else, often secretly dream of what it might have been if only they were able to have a second chance with the only one they ever loved!

Homeopathy Celebrities on the couch: George Clooney, the power of a king!

This week the Undercover Homeopath analyses George Clooney's psychological profile according to homoeopathy principles and prescribes a homoeopathic remedy.

George Clooney needs no introduction!

Or does he? We are so used to seeing successful actors in the media that their faces, emotions and expressions become more familiar to us than our own.

We forget that what we are looking at is a character they’ve lend themselves to in order to tell us a story.

Unlike musicians who put themselves forward for all to see, and often even add on to this by writing their own lyrics, so that we get to know them really well, or artists who convey their thinking and feeling processes through their medium; actors create an illusion of total and unconditional surrender to their audience by lending their bodies, their emotions, their personal experiences to their character but without really compromising their privacy nor revealing who they are. The more an actor is typecast the more our illusion of knowing them really well is perpetuated.

George Clooney has a particularly multifaceted character. He is a scriptwriter, movie director, producer and actor.

He plays basketball regularly. Although he doesn’t appear particularly reclusive nor secretive he has made it clear that his private life is his own and not to be shared by the media.

We have known of his slightly troubled romantic life with a failed marriage and a succession of girlfriends.

We know of his past jobs before he went into acting: several low profile sale jobs and even work in a tobacco plantation cutting leaves.

We also know of some of his serious illnesses: while still at school he suffered from Bell’s palsy which caused him to be bullied by the other kids. He had a serious back and brain injury while filming Syriana - he was driven to contemplate suicide while in hospital, by the severe pain and the extent of the injury he suffered, at one point he was losing CFS fluid through his nose. He still suffers from occasional migraines as a result of the accident.

Perhaps most touching, we've known of his pets, the most famous of all: Max the enormous potbelly pig with whom he had a special bond, crediting the pet with saving his life when the pig woke him up just before an Earthquake.

He was twice nominated the “Sexiest Man Alive” by the People magazine

He has received two Golden Globe awards and an Academy Award, and many other nominations and awards for acting, but perhaps the most prestigious awards have been those pertaining to his political stance in defence of those who don‘t have a voice - He was presented with the Summit Peace Award, and he’s also been nominated a UN messenger of peace.

He has used his success and connections in the movie industry for social activism

He's been instrumental in raising awareness to the Darfur conflict, which has seen thousands and thousands of people being prosecuted and killed in one of the longer lasting conflicts in history.

George has also spoken against the Iraq war, alerting political leaders to the fact that we cannot fight a war with war, and that every war we fight we are creating a new generation of people seeking revenge.

George’s homoeopathic profile is Bismuth

This mineral is part of the gold series of the periodic table: the entire series carries an aura of power and kingship to some extent. Aurum being the recognised supreme king. Bismuth, which is stage 15 typifies the aftermath. One has been king, but has lost his kingdom, there is a choice of either trying to cling on to power in a vain attempt to resist the unavoidable or surrender gracefully.

Bismuth is also one of the remedies where suicide is most prevalent. All the gold series has a theme of depression relating to power- desire to attain it, abuse of power, or loss of power depending which stage in the periodic table they appear. All of these can be motivations for suicide.

In Bismuth, there is the realisation that power without strong social and moral values is hollow.

In Bismuth there is a strong dichotomy between idealism and cynicism: the person knows that if power is used to oppress others will not last, and true strength comes from empowering others and giving them a voice. They can sometimes feel powerless towards social injustice and even resort to suicide as a last resort to keep some control over their existence and the way they chose to live or die.

There is also humour expressed as irony in Bismuth, with subjects seeing themselves with enough detachment to be able to laugh.

Clooney has displayed this quirky side in many occasions both by making ironic comments about his political opponents, and also when lampooned in several programmes including South Park series - even saying he would have been offended if the program didn't make fun of him!

At a physical level, Bismuth is one of the remedies for facial paralysis and Bell’s palsy.

With Bismuth everything happens suddenly, life and death have a blurred boundary: Clooney has had a few near miss death experiences and sudden accidents

The one most publicised was the motorcycle accident in 2007. His stay in hospital attracted enormous publicity when dozens of hospital staff abused their position of trust by looking at his medical records.

Bismuth people are private, they don’t like to have their personal details exposed, and yet in a genuine display of sympathy to the hospital personnel, Clooney requested that no one should be punished over the incident: that is the whole mark of a true king - the power to be magnanimous!

Homeopathy Celebrities on the couch: Lady Gaga, disappointed love

Lady Gaga is a singer with millions of adoring fans whom she calls “her little monsters”.

She seems to be on a category of her own, both her musical style and her fashion sense are quite unique.

During her still short but meteoric career we have been treated to a kaleidoscope of ever changing successions of Gagas

We could be forgiven for thinking that we are in the face of several different women impersonating this eccentric character rather than just one re-inventing herself at a fulminating rate.

There have been rumours of mental illness, rumours of an auto-immune disease, namely Lupus.

Lady Gaga herself has done little to dispel any of these rumours: she’s not confirmed them nor dismissed them, she much rather ignore any critical voices and concentrate or her artistic career and her fan base.

To her fans, and her friends she has plenty of time. She replies personally to some; there was recently a poignant message of support to a fan being bullied… yes Lady Gaga knows what that feels like. She has been there herself, but overcome this to rise to success!

On a song that made her famous, “Bad Romance” she talks about unconditional love.

She expresses very intense feelings, and not wanting to be just friends but wanting a relationship with all that involves: the good, the bad, and the uggly!

She is definitely intense… on an a recent interview she opened up about the string of unfulfilled romantic relationships she has had – she hasn’t been accepted for who she is, some lovers have been envious of her creativity and her success… love has been disappointing!

Her homeopathic profile is Phosphoric Acid.

This remedy combines a certain freshness and creativity of the group of Acid remedies with the characteristics of Phosphorus.

Phosphorus is about all or nothing as far as love is concerned. It is about communication with fellow humans at all levels.

A typical phosphoric personality has many social connections. Easy to relate to others, they have close friends, and acquaintances with whose they also enjoy keeping in touch.

They have many virtual friends on Facebook, Twitter, and any other social network they decide to join… in fact social networking sites owe their success to Phosphoric people who require constant communication with a wide circle of friends and acquaintances and the marketing people, who take advantage of this lively interactive group of people, in order to promote their products.

Phosphorus people are also the Goths, and the vampire movie lovers.

Physically they tend to be very pale, to have a weak spleen, and a tendency to bleed easily.

Psychologically they have great empathy, and they can easily feel the emotional suffering of others and take it as their own. They are idealists, and they can easily get confused in between a friendship and love relationship.

They assume that the other person is on the same wave length and that there is no need to talk – communication happens at an emotional level rather than at the intellectual level. They can then be greatly disappointed once they realise that their partner doesn’t share their views and ideals, leaving them feeling misunderstood and betrayed at a very deep and emotional level.

On the other hand If they feel they have much in common with the other person and there is an easy communication going on between them, they are very willing to take the relationship into the sexual level. For this reason it is easy for them to be bi-sexual, as often there is a closer bond and empathy between people of the same sex.

The Phosphoric Acid state is the result with the Phosphorus patient being brought to this state of emotional exhaustion by disappointed love.

People in this remedy profile become exhausted from giving themselves to others and they are no longer able to communicate. As they get more tired they shut down physically and emotionally.

If Phosphorus is the “party” state, Phosphoric Acid is the “after-party”, it is the match that has fizzled out, the sparkling drink that has lost its bubbles.

But just like other the remedies in the acid group, it does it with style… it has a dry sense humour, it has enough creativity to fascinate others, it has a different take and a new perspective on life, that others cannot easily grasp…

Phosphoric Acid like Phosphorus still has a lot to give, but needs to communicate from a safe distance, without too much pressure and demand from too close a circle of either family relations or friends…  sometimes it is easier to be friendly in the digital world!
